Howdy Folks!

We hope you are looking forward to the Western Swing Night at our Logan Co. Fairgrounds as are we. A little more information is included further on this page, but know that it is Saturday evening, May 16 and there is plenty of room for dancing and milling about. Bring your neighbors and friends and have a great time.

I'd like to mention that the Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival is shaping up quite nicely. We have extended our early bird ticket deadline to June 1st; you will want to take advantage of that. Check on the website for the list of artists and all the information you need to know: oibf.com.

As always, we continue with our Music Hall shows about every other Saturday. You will find a schedule for the upcoming 4 months a little further on this page. Please note that we are giving everybody the month of July off. No concerts that month, but there are 3 in the month of May and 3 in the month of August. The discount tickets continue as always, with 8 shows in this next session.

We now have the capability to put our shows on DVDs for anyone who requests them. If you have friends or family who enjoy our brand of music but live too far to come regularly, or if you are particularly fond of one of our shows and would enjoy seeing it over again, we would be happy to make DVD copies for you.

Greg Burgess and I are offering a Fiddle Workshop on June 19 and 20 for those who would like to improve their playing skills. We will be covering bluegrass, western swing and contest style fiddling, and will be working with participants from 10am – 4pm each day, with a final jam session set for 5pm on Saturday, the 20th. Total cost is $225 and includes lunch both days.

Check out our Out & About schedule and see if your or your distant friends and family would like to make one of our away shows. We always enjoy seeing our friends when we're away from home!

NOTICE
The Hunt Family has a new CD available, titled “This Old House” I know you will enjoy it; see them for your copy.

DISCOUNT TICKETS

We are continuing the offer for bargain tickets, 8 shows for $66.00 ($132 per couple). That is $8.00 per show plus $10 for the Western Swing, May through August, and the privilege of selecting your reserved seat. The schedule on the reverse lists these shows with an asterix. The tickets will be ready to buy by the time you read this. Remember it is first-come first-served for your seat selection, and we hold your seat for you only until show time.

WESTERN SWING

These annual shows have become so popular with us and with you that we have scheduled the event again. Put May 16th on your calendar now to join Leon Rausch and Smiley Weaver of the Texas Playboys, and our triple fiddles in some of your favorite tunes from the Bob Wills era. There is plenty of room for listening and dancing at Logan Co. Fairgrounds, so round up your friends and neighbors for a really fun evening.

OVERSEAS TRIP

I just returned from a nice Easter weekend trip to a small town in Eastern France. I was there to teach fiddle and mandolin workshops, and play a concert with Alan Munde and Jim Hurst. Alan and Jim taught banjo and guitar workshops; we had a great time playing together and getting to know our students who came from all over Europe. The meals we shared were certainly different than what we are used to, and it's still really amazing to me that folks in foreign countries are interested in us and our music. We all have that common bond --- the love of music!

INSTRUMENTS AT THE SHOP

We ave lots of new and vintage instruments at the Fiddle Shop; new guitars, fiddles, mandolins and banjos. Now that school is beginning again, get your string instrument here --- we will make sure it is set up and ready to go.

GUITARS :
We have a very nice selection of acoustic and electric guitars, with several flatops to choose from such as: Collings, Martins, Gibson, Alvarez, Laribee, Blueridge, Revival, Johnson, etc. The electrics include a Fender Les Paul artist model, and two archtops: a Gibson Tal Farlow and a Gretch 7575.

VIOLINS, VIOLAS, BOWS :

We have the biggest and best selection of anyone around these parts, and now we are happy to show and sell the violins of Lucas Wronski. You must see and play his violins; he is making them better than ever. Check the website to see and hear them. I have some wonderful 18th and 19th century violins from all over the world, and several entry-level violins starting at $150. We also have violas, cellos and basses. If you are looking for a good deal in a fiddle or bow, cases or accessories, come in and we’ll help you out with something.

MANDOLINS :

We just got in a new cedar top Weber Yellowstone, looks great and sounds great! We will be getting another Kristufek in May; you will want to check out the new Kentucky 1000, they copied the old Loar color and all. It sounds good, too. In addition, we have some very nice sounding Eastmans, Johnsons and Collings mandolins.

BANJOS :

We still have a good selection of new and used banjos. I just picked up another old Gibson, late ‘20s or early ‘30s, TB-1 with a 5 string neck, really nice. Also have 2 old tenor Gibsons from the ‘20s or ‘30s, plus Ridge, RB-3 Gibson and Kristufek banjos from the Czech Republic which are very, very nice. We can also get you started on some nice entry-level instruments.

MISC :

You can find all kinds of accessories at the shop: tuners, straps, picks, rosin, strings, capos, pick-ups, chin rests, shoulder rests, pitch pipes, books on how to play, DVDs and CDs of the band and solo CDs.
